How to Change the Boot Image on Your AnyTone

How to Change the Boot Image on Your AnyTone

Hi everyone, this is Cody from BridgeCom Systems, and in this video I'm going to be showing you how to change the boot screen on your AnyTone.

So when you power it up, this is a fresh AnyTone here, you get the booting please wait, and then we just have a Welcome AnyTone.

Now we can do a couple things with this.

We can change the text to maybe put your name and callsign, or we can actually add a custom image, so let's go ahead and do that.

Okay, so now we're over here on the computer.

So first up you're gonna turn on the radio and make sure it's plugged in.

I'm gonna look for it in the COM port settings here.

There we go, I see it.

Now if you wanna go ahead and keep the codeplug that's on your radio, be sure to read the other data from your radio first.

If you care about those contact lists, go ahead and do that too.

There we go.

So we have the codeplug that's in the radio now in our CPS software.

So first what we're going to do is go to optional settings, then go to power on, and change this from custom.

Now in this case you could put in like a name and a callsign, but what we're gonna do is go to the custom picture, then say Okay.

Now go up to Tool, and click on Boot Image.

Now from this point you can open an image.

Now for this there's two formats.

You can either do a bitmap file or jpeg.

Now the aspect ratio for the image is gonna be a five by four.

Now the resolution for the actual screen is 160 by 128.

Now you can use other sized images, although it will resize them and squish them based on the aspect ratio.

So if you have a five by four aspect ratio, it will work for you.

So we're gonna go ahead and import this.

I have heard the best format is gonna be the bitmap for the best looking image, but it will work with both JPEG and bitmap.

So once we have the picture in there, we're gonna go ahead and write that to the radio.

Here we go.

Then close that.

Okay so now you wanna go ahead and write the data, the other data to the radio.

There we go, it's all done, so let's go check it out.

So we should now have the image on the radio, so I'm gonna power it up here, and we'll have a look at the boot image.

There we go, that's exactly what we wanted.

It's not squished, looks perfect.

We will soon have another video coming that'll show you how to change the actual background image on your AnyTone, so stay tuned for that.
