I got into DMR a few years ago and then kind of forgot about it for at least a couple years. I had two DMR radios, an MD-380 and GD-77. Both are okay. After getting back into DMR I decided to upgrade my hotspot and HT.
Got a new MMDVM board for my Pi and picked up the D878UV II Plus. First I have to confess that I bought a budget one from a Chinese store. This almost never works out and this time was no different. Somehow or another my radio came from an Amazon 3rd party seller. It has bad scratchy audio and a dead pixel on the screen. Had to have been off an Amazon return pallet or something.
Learned my lesson but good. Decided to buy from BridgeCom Systems. Got my radio in 2 days and while I'm not ready to do a technical review on it yet, it was easy enough to upgrade the firmware to 3.03 and to program the CPS for my local repeater and Brandmeister and TGIF on my hotspot. Love the hotkey setup and getting ready to tackle APRS which is super cool. I don't NEED this radio but I LOVE this radio and all the cool tricks it has up its sleeve.
